We're looking for a Whānau Ora Navigator

Whānau Ora Navigator role – work with tāngata and whānau whaikaha

Hei Whakapiki Mauri needs a spectacular person to join our team in Ōtautahi as a Whānau Ora Navigator to support tāngata and whānau whaikaha Māori to dream big and create their own path for themselves.

Hei Whakapiki Mauri is a Whānau Ora initiative that brings tāngata and whānau whaikaha Māori together to awhi each other using a Te Ao Māori approach.

Our Navigator will awhi tāngata and whānau whaikaha Māori to be all they can be, and provide tautoko in practical ways that are sustainable and make a real difference.

We’re looking for someone who: 

  • Understands and believes in Whānau Ora, its pou and principles.

  • Is committed to tāngata and whānau whaikaha Māori being an integral part of whānau and communities.

  • Has the skills, knowledge and experience to help remove barriers for tāngata and whānau whaikaha Māori, and to tautoko them to dream big, plan for a great life and help make it happen!

  • Can quickly build positive relationships with tāngata and whānau whaikaha Māori.

  • Is familiar with formal Government systems, especially the Disability Support System in Aotearoa.

  • Is computer savvy.

  • Has a full, clean driver’s license.

Lived experience of te ao Māori, disability and an understanding of te reo Māori me ona tikanga is an advantage.

Details

Our Navigator will work from home and in the community across Ōtautahi. The hours will be flexible, based on when whānau want support. This may include evenings and weekends.

The role is 35 hours per week and will ideally commence in June.
